Blans Havn to Vordingborg, Day 4
61km and again a flat 240m of climbing (probably mostly on bridges). Highlights were Bandholm, Sakskøbing, Guldborg and the crumbling bridge to Vordingborg.
First stop of the day was at Bandholm, a small port with a ferry over to Aksø. Wonderful looking beach and a very smart hotel: perhaps we should have taken breakfast there.
There’s an old railway, with a terminus at Bandholm. Also a museum. Part of the route today crossed the line a few times.
The route also passes Knuthenborg Safari Park. Unfortunately we weren’t allowed in on bikes; too big a chance of being eaten apparently.
Old hotel in Sakskøbing, yet another pretty market town.
Lunch at Cafe Lagunen is recommended for a few classic Danish dishes.
The bridge between Lolland and Falster over Guldborgsund.
Small lanes and some off-road by the Northern coast of Falster.
Storstrømsbroen (great current bridge), is falling apart. A brand new bridge between Falster and Sjælland is due to open in the next few years.
